Riots in London

Seriously? Are we at this point?
Not only are people making fun of the riots on Facebook and Twitter (I'll post names of people if you don't believe me) but rioting is the LOWEST form of protest. This is just really sad. I feel very bad for the innocent people hurt and the innocent businesses that are being destroyed by scumbag sheep that should be rounded up and pushed into the Thames. /endrant

The rioters sheep are being "organized" via social media, primarily BBM apparently. I guess the public-facing nature of facebook and twitter is harder to support your cause? Read more about that -> http://mashable.com/2011/08/08/london-riots-blackberry-messenger/

The violence is spreading too. Shop windows in both Birmingham and Liverpool have been reported to be smashed as well in addition to spreading within London itself. -> http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8690199/London-riots-violence-escalates-across-London.html

One of the things making the situation worse is the timing, a critical mass of UK officials are on vacation, David Cameron is cutting his holiday short however.

"I'm a unoriginal coward, lets break stuff then complain about social services"
I'm all for being pissed off about a situation, that's what most of this blog is. But for god sakes, how does this help your cause's credibility?

Geography! History! all in 1 post!

Did the Chinese discover the New World before the Euros?
Did some Flemish guy create a (now famous) racist map?
Should there only be 38 States of America? Find out here!

Trying to keep it classy, but this map looks like boobs

Honestly, probably a good idea... on paper

Yes I'm being lazy, read the source link here -> http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/17550

Cheers to Rum

It looks like the famous Captain Morgan's lost ship may have been found, with some bounty still aboard...possibly rum?

"We all have mustaches under our scuba masks"
From the Discovery article:

The lost wreckage of a ship belonging to 17th century pirate Captain Henry Morgan has been discovered in Panama, said a team of U.S. archaeologists -- and the maker of Captain Morgan rum.
Near the Lajas Reef, where Morgan lost five ships in 1671 including his flagship "Satisfaction," the team uncovered a portion of the starboard side of a wooden ship's hull and a series of unopened cargo boxes and chests encrusted in coral. The cargo has yet to be opened, but Captain Morgan USA -- which sells the spiced rum named for the eponymous pirate -- is clearly hoping there's liquor in there.

"There's definitely an irony in the situation," Fritz Hanselmann an archaeologist with the River Systems Institute and the Center for Archaeological Studies at Texas State University and head of the dive team told KVUE Austin. The Captain Morgan rum group stepped in on the quest for Captain Morgan after team -- which found a collection of iron cannons nearby -- ran out of funds before they could narrow down the quest.
----------
The Texas State University dive team leading the expedition recently ran out of funding, Captain Morgan USA (yes the rum maker) got wind of this and helped pay for the continued exploration of the wreck "Satisfaction", the Captain's flagship vessel lost over 400 years ago.

On that note, I'm making a Dark and Stormy... ARRRRRRR

Data caps really are annoying, Throttling might be worse though

When you can't even GET a service that you want because carriers have figured out what an oligarchy is. I'm pretty sure that's why we have baby bells... too much history?

Its going to get to the point that people who truly need unlimited 4G (LTE or WiMax, even that HSDPA+ flavor) are going to just start carrying multiple usb dongles and swap them out as the data gets capped, which is ridiculous. On another note, saying that you have an unlimited* plan (notice that asterisk) but with the speed throttled to the point where its unusable, isn't unlimited.

From the BoingBoing post:
"Wireless carriers have started to push their new 4G networks. The carriers say that these new networks are amazing, and will allow you to do more, faster, than ever before. What they do not tell you is that you will not be able to use the new 4G networks for very much. That is because the wireless carriers (with the exception of Sprint, which offers truly unlimited 4G connections) have imposed arbitrary limits on their 4G networks. For the average user, this limit is set at 2 GB per month. As a result, just about everything that you would use the 4G network for will put you over your limit. At full speed, you will hit a month's worth of caps in under an hour. In that time, you might be able to download half an HD movie to watch for the rest of the month."

Was our moon the result of 2 smaller moons crashing into each other?

Who knows, but there might be evidence to point to that.

From Gizmodo:
It's widely accepted that the Moon was created when a Mars-sized body hit Earth which blasted material that would eventually form the Moon into space. This conveniently explains the differences between the Moon and Earth. However! The differences between the near side of the Moon and the far side (or dark of the Moon) can't be neatly explained in this theory.

Specifically, the scientists say that the "companion moon, 1/3 the diameter of the Moon, striking at subsonic velocity, does not form a crater. The impact produces an accretionary pile rather than a crater." That means most of the material from little Moon would have stayed on one side, like while the material of the original Moon stayed on the other side.

AKA, balls the size of melons

Above is the Mayor of the town of Vilnius, Lithuania. He's had it with illegally parked (luxury) cars...

Here's the thing, what type of people have Black Merc's in Lithuania and could give a sh*t about parking? Bold.

"That's a good base"

I wanted to update anybody following this page, that I haven't been posting lately because I'm on vacation. I'm probably going to can a few to autopost over the next few days. In the meantime, I didn't want my site to go stagnant.
