Due to a Peruvian law that a suspect can only be held without charges for 18 months (and the local courts/authorities dragging their feet), J.V.D.S. would've been released in December.

I know I'm making fun of him now, but in all seriousness, this guy is stain on humanity. He went through life thinking there weren't any consequences of his actions, slipped through the cracks for what appeared to be an open and shut case due to a closed legal system and his father's influence, then bragged to an undercover reporter, did it again in a new country, then finally got caught. Oh, have I mentioned that he might be a father due to a new girlfriend + conjucal visits?
