East coast Earthquake!

***Updated*** (more links)

So as you've definitely heard (or felt if you were between NC <-> NH today around 2pm EST), there was a 5.9 Earthquake centered about 87 miles SW of DC today. I felt it at my office in Philly. Honestly I thought my cubicle-mate was kicking my desk, apparently he thought I was doing the same to him.

While earthquakes on the east coast are rare, they're not impossible. There is evidence that the nearly identically-sized earthquake that hit CO yesterday (8/22/2011) might have been enough energy released to trigger this one. I haven't felt any aftershocks today, although the news claims there have been a half-dozen. Click the links below for more information.
